第7回　人間とAIは共に成長する——ボトルネックは“人間の認識構造”にある

 

AIはどこまで進化を遂げるのか？

この進化の最大の壁は、AIの計算能力やデータ量ではありません。

実は、その正体は人間の認識構造そのものなのです。

そもそも、現在のAIは原理的に統計を基礎としたものであり、そこが変わらない限り、機械的な意味での劇的な変化はあり得ません。

しかし、その統計に用いるデータの質と量が大きく変われば、機能的には全く別次元の性能を発揮することはあり得ます。

現在、AIは言語の統計的な関係、つまり言葉同士の関係性を学習することで、人間の言葉のメカニズムを模倣して再現するLLM（大規模言語モデル）だけでなく、画像や音声等を総合的に学習するマルチモーダルと呼ばれる状態に移行しつつあります。

このマルチモーダルAIが社会的にフルに実装されるためには、膨大な電力と計算力を必要とするため、外部環境的な制約はあるものの、設計的には既に社会で適用できる状態になっています。

一方で、どれだけマルチモーダル化が進み、AIが膨大な情報を統合できるようになっても、人間側の「意味を認識する視点・枠組（認識枠）」も合わせて進歩しなければ、AIの生成する結果の意味を理解することができず、人間レベルでは開発時のAIの指導にも、ユーザーレベルの使用においても活用することができません。

AIが新しい視点を提示しても、それを“理解できる視点”を持たなければ、人間はただ「すごいけどよく分からない」と感じるだけで終わってしまうのです。

結局、人間がAIを制御する限り、AIの性能よりも、人間側の「理解する力」の方が重要なのです。

この意味で、人間がAIとパートナーとして共に成長するとは、全員がAI技術者になることではなく、「世界を理解する力を高めること」を意味しているといえるでしょう。

AIが見つけた“新しい可能性”の意味を、人間が理解できる言語や文化の形に翻訳できるか——その翻訳能力こそが、これからの知性の尺度になるのです。

AIを制御し、人間と共に歩むパートナーとするためには、AIと人間は共に成長しなければなりません。

しかし、AIと人間にそれぞれの個性に応じた役割があるように、人間においても個性の差があります。

そのため、「共に」とは、すべての人間に「世界を理解する力」を求めるということではなく、人類の中に一定数のAIと対等に渡り合える「AIと人間を繋ぐ翻訳者」がいれば良いだけです。

既に述べた通り、AIは従来の「役に立たないことは悪」といった、人間を目先の成果への呪縛から解き放つ可能性を秘めた道具です。

AIとの通訳に価値を見出す人もいて、その他自由に好きなことにチャレンジする。

それが、効率性とイノベーションを両立する人類とAIの共生社会であると言えるでしょう。

Part 7 – Humanity and AI Must Evolve Together

The True Bottleneck Lies in the Structure of Human Perception

 

How far can AI evolve?

The greatest barrier to its evolution is not found in computational power or data volume.

In truth, the bottleneck lies within the structure of human cognition itself.

 

At its core, today’s AI is built upon statistics—a system that detects patterns of correlation and probability.

As long as this foundation remains, no matter how sophisticated AI becomes,

a qualitative leap in the mechanical sense will not occur.

 

However, if the quality and quantity of data used in these statistical systems continue to expand dramatically,

AI’s functional performance can indeed reach entirely new dimensions.

 

At present, AI is transitioning from Large Language Models (LLMs)—which learn the statistical relationships between words and reproduce the mechanics of human language—

toward multimodal systems that integrate not only text but also images, sounds, and other forms of sensory data.

For such multimodal AI to be fully implemented in society,

enormous computing power and electrical energy are required.

Yet in terms of design, these systems are already technically ready for real-world application.

 

The Limits Are No Longer in the Machine, but in the Mind

 

No matter how advanced multimodal AI becomes—

no matter how vast the information it can process or synthesize—

if human beings fail to expand our own frames of understanding,

we will be unable to interpret what AI produces in any meaningful way.

 

AI may offer us new perspectives,

but if we lack the conceptual lenses to make sense of them,

we will simply respond, “That’s impressive, but I don’t understand it.”

 

As long as humans remain the ones guiding and evaluating AI,

our ability to understand—not the machine’s performance—will determine the true scope of its potential.

In other words, the bottleneck of the future is not technological; it is epistemological.

 

What It Means to Grow Together

 

To grow alongside AI as true partners does not mean that everyone must become an engineer or programmer.

Rather, it means enhancing our capacity to understand the world—

to translate AI’s newly discovered possibilities into human language, culture, and context.

This ability to translate, interpret, and give meaning to what AI generates

will become the new measure of intelligence in the years ahead.

 

Humans and AI must evolve together:

AI refining its capacity to generate patterns,

and humans refining the frameworks through which we comprehend and evaluate those patterns.

Only through this co-evolution can we achieve true partnership.

 

Of course, just as AI and humans each have distinct roles and abilities,

so too do individual humans differ in their aptitudes and sensibilities.

Therefore, “growing together” does not mean that every person must reach the same level of cognitive sophistication.

It simply requires that among humanity there exist a certain number of individuals—translators, mediators—

who can engage with AI on equal terms and bridge the gap between human meaning and machine logic.

 

Toward a Symbiotic Society of Efficiency and Creativity

 

As discussed earlier, AI is a tool that holds the potential to liberate humanity from the tyranny of short-term efficiency—

from the belief that “anything unproductive is bad.”

AI can manage repetition and optimization on our behalf,

allowing us to explore, to play, and to pursue ideas that may not have immediate results.

 

In this new world, some will devote themselves to interpreting AI—to building understanding, frameworks, and meaning.

Others will use the freedom thus gained to challenge, create, and experiment in their own fields.

Together, these two groups—interpreters and explorers—will form the foundation of a symbiotic society,

where efficiency and innovation coexist.

 

AI will not replace human growth.

It will demand it.

The question is no longer how much AI can learn,

but how far human beings can expand the boundaries of our own understanding.
